Veryl "Jack" Clark Obituary

He was known as “Jack” and as pappy Jack to his family. He was born on February 24, 1933, in Parks Twp. Vandergrift, PA. to his parents Veryl Sr. and Madeline (Moore) Clark. He was married for 69 years to the love of his life, Ruby. They had 8 children together and raised them on their farm on Dime Road.

Jack worked at Eljer Pottery in Ford City, Pa. He was a coalminer, a bartender, steelworker and a farmer. He worked at USS Steel and ATI Steel. He was a foreman in the finishing department. His true passion in life was working on his farm. Jack loved being on his tractor in his fields or on his gator checking his fields or on his riding mower, mowing his yard. That is what he loved.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and has a wall of trophies. He and Ruby loved to watch the Steelers as well as the Pirates. Pittsburgh’s true fans.

He was a member of the VFW and served as a Marine—OORAH-in the Korean War as a gunner. Jack was in Operation Bumblebee in the battle of the Punchbowl.

He enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Ruby, his oldest son Russell Clark and his sister Louise Sheaffer.

Veryl’s (Jack’s) memory will be kept alive by his family, Patti Lynn Clark, of Coraopolis, Pa., Layerd Clark of Vandergrift, Mike (Lisa) Clark of Deland, Florida, Jeff Clark (Robin Blystone)of Vandergrift, Amy (Bob) Shaffer of Vandergrift, Jill (Mike) Bemish of Lake Helens, Florida, and Trent Clark of Watkinsville, Georgia,17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at St. Paul’s Highfield Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 11:00am. Pastor Robert Shallenberger of the North Apollo Church of God will officiate. All are invited to stay for a luncheon that will be provided by after the service.
