Robert Beatty, 89 of Washington Township passed away April 13, 2021. He was born August 3, 1931 in the home he occupied until his passing. He was the son of George C. and Emma (Wilson) Beatty and Margaret Schroth Vara. He leaves behind his wife, Lida “Sue” (Waltenbaugh) of almost 66 years.
After attending Washington Township High School, Robert was a Corporal in the Air Force. He was a machinist at Wean United in Vandergrift and Toolex Division of Composidie in Leechburg. He also drove school bus for Moore School Bus Co. He was a member of the Seneca Lodge 805 F&A Masons in Kittanning and North Apollo Church of God. He enjoyed camping with Penn West Campers and square dancing with Western Wheelers and Dealers. A man of many talents and interests, he also enjoyed skiing, boating, biking, skating, and golfing.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his daughter Lucinda Beatty, son Robert and his wife Dana and grand-daughter Laurel. He also left 3 half-brothers that he met when he was 85 years old and a half-sister. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Thomas Eugene and his step-sister Isabelle Beatty Wagner.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Robert's memory to North Apollo Church of God Building Fund, 507 20th Street, North Apollo, PA 15673.
There will be no viewing, but a public funeral service will be held on Friday, April 16 at 1:00 pm at the North Apollo Church of God. Private interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo. Due to Covid-19 corncerns and our concerns for our families, MASKS ARE MANDATORY and social distancing guidelines must be followed.
