Norma Fulton Obituary

Norma Jean “Peggy” Fulton, 91, of Carlisle, PA, previously of Oklahoma Borough, PA, passed away on September 15, 2023 at UPMC Carlisle hospital after a brief illness.  Peggy was born on December 28, 1931 in Smicksburg, PA, the eldest child of Laurie Warren Casedy and Elinor Larue (Little) Casedy.  Peggy graduated from Vandergrift High School in 1949 and began her working career at the Sweetlane Chocolate Shop in Vandergrift.  Peggy’s working career then took her to the Vandergrift Savings and Trust Company, known locally as the “lower bank”.  On June 21, 1958, Peggy married James Harold “Jim” Fulton and they shared 63 years of marriage before Jim’s passing in September 2021.  Peggy continued to work at the Vandergrift S&T before starting employment with Swank Funeral Home in Vandergrift where she worked part-time until the owner, Mr Boyd Swank, retired.  Peggy and Jim moved to Oklahoma Borough, PA in 1969 and lived there until they moved to Carlisle, PA in 2016.  One of Peggy’s greatest joys was square dancing as she was a long-time member of the Western Wheelers and Dealers Square Dance Group.  Peggy was also an active member of her local Red Hats group as well as several card clubs.  Until her move to Carlisle, PA, Peggy was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Vandergrift, PA where she attended the Christian Fellowship Class, the BYKOTA Circle, and the United Methodist Women’s Fellowship.  Peggy also enjoyed participation in several Masonic Ladies organizations including the Hillbilly Clan #53 of Syria Shrine, Pittsburgh, PA.  Of all these activities, Peggy’s greatest pride and joy in life was her family.  Peggy loved watching her children grow and flourish as they expanded the Casedy/Fulton family.   Peggy was most proud of her children and grandchildren; family meant everything to Peggy. Nothing brought Peggy more joy than sharing her children and grandchildren’s lives and accomplishments.  While many will remember Peggy as a quiet, unassuming wife, mother, and grandmother, those close to her will remember her fierce dedication to her faith, the intense love she had for her family, and the unwavering competitive nature when it came to a game of dominos or Chinese checkers as well as a myriad of card games.  Peggy’s kind and gentile nature was inspiring to those who met her and for those whom she befriended, she was steadfast in her devotion to that friendship.  Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Laurie Warren Casedy and Elinor Larue (Little) Casedy, her brothers Charles Roger Casedy and Robert Warren Casedy, and her husband James Harold “Jim” Fulton.  Peggy is survived by her son Andrew Richard Fulton of Sun City Center, FL, her daughter Lisa Kay (Fulton) Cawthern (Scott) of Mechanicsburg, PA, granddaughter Delilah Grace Fulton of Notting Hill London, UK, grandson Caleb David Cawthern of Mechanicsburg, PA, as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.  At Peggy’s request, a graveside service will commence at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at the Apollo Cemetery.   Final arrangements are being managed by Kelly L. Corridoni Funeral Home Ltd., North Apollo, PA.  A memorial service will be scheduled at a future date for friends to be received at the Cumberland Crossings Personal Care Home, Carlisle PA.
