Robert "Bob" Shannon Obituary

Robert “Bob” James Shannon 74 of Tunnelton ( Conemaugh Twp.)  passed away Friday February 1, 2019 at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg. He was born Tuesday May 9, 1944 in Butte, Montana the son of the late George I. and Mazie Livengood Seger Shannon. Before his retirement he was employed by PP&L Coal Company at the Tunnelton Mine for over 26 Years. Bob was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Viet Nam War. He was a member of the Tunnelton Presbyterian Church, where he was very active in the everyday operations, in many capacities. Bob was an avid hunter, enjoyed camping, gardening, and working outside. He loved to “ galavant “ for ice cream and other sightseeing excursions . His true passion was Trout fishing and always reminisced about his fishing trip to Alaska. He especially loved time spent with family. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Romona Ravenscroft Shannon, three children; Robert Shannon (Brenda Thomas) of Tunnelton, Keith Shannon and his wife Lisa also of Tunnelton, and Tracey Emanuel and her husband Nick of Nowrytown, eight grandchildren; Robert Shannon III and his wife Christine of Westmont, Kara Shannon of Youngwood, Rachel Shannon of Pittsburgh, Katelyn Litton of Derry, Matthew Shannon of Tunnelton, Vicki and Courtney Shannon of Lucinda, and Nick Emanuel of Nowrytown, four great grandchildren; Bella, Liahna, Brynley, and Kayson,  two Brothers; Mike Shannon and his wife Bertha of Avonmore, and John Shannon and his wife Sandy of Perrysville, a brother in law Woody Dunmire of Saltsburg, and three sister in laws; Dorothy Seger of Saltsburg, Barb Shannon of Tunnelton, and Linda Ravenscroft, also of Tunnelton, a special cousin, Ron Shannon and his wife Gloria of Saltsburg, numerous nieces and nephews, a great friend, Don Shaffer of Loyalhanna, and his faithful companion, his dog, Maggie. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandchild, Jordan Hope Shannon, two sisters; Ethel Baker, and Peggy Dunmire, and four brothers; Ralph J. Shannon, Charles M. Seger, Harry E. “Raz” Seger, and Julian E. “Shorty” Seger.  Family will receive friends on Tuesday February 5, 2019 from 2:00- 4:00 P.M. and 6:00- 8:00 P.M. in the Kelly L. Corridoni Funeral Home Ltd. 400 Indiana Ave. Avonmore, Pa. Service will be conducted on Wednesday February 6, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Pastor Eric Brinker officiating. Interment will follow in Edgewood Cemetery in Saltsburg.
