James Ralph Eckenrode

James Ralph Eckenrode, 85, of Olney, Md., passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018 in Rockville, Md. He was born March 4, 1933 in Saltsburg, Pa., the son of the late Charles A. and Lillian M. Beatty Eckenrode. Before his retirement, he worked as an accountant for the Department of Defense. He was an United States Navy veteran having served during the Korean War. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. He was a lifetime member of the Saltsburg American Legion. He also was a member of the Metropolitan Soccer Referees Association and the International Association of Basketball Referees for over 30 years.  He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marcia Sloan Eckenrode, 5 children, Tracey Eckenrode-Speicher and her husband Thomas of Brookeville, Md., James Eckenrode Jr. and his wife, Maria, of Crofton, Md., Christopher Eckenrode and his wife, Wendy, of Rockville, Md., Michael Eckenrode of Balitmore, Md. And Jill Messick and her husband, Michael, of Rockville, Md., 7 grandchildren, a sister, Rose Marie Gehrhardt and her husband, Henry, of Sugar Grove, IL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Harry and Charles Eckenrode and 2 sisters, Lillian Patricia Urban and Mary Margaret Standriff.  At his request, all services are private. Interment will be at St. Matthew Church Cemetery in Saltsburg, Pa. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Kelly L. Corridoni Funeral Home, 400 Indiana Ave., Avonmore, Pa. 15618.
