Arlene E. Knohl Nathan 86 of Monroeville passed away Thursday July 12, 2018. She was born November 9, 1931 in New York the daughter of the late George and May Knohl. Arlene had a brilliant mind and graduated high school in 1947 at the age of 16 to go onto Florida State. She was extremely knowledgeable in most subjects, a wiz at Jeopardy, and loved the challenge of a good crossword puzzle. She loved animals, and will always be remembered for her wit and sense of humor. She recognized, and passed down to the generations, that it was always important to put family first. She is survived by three children and their spouses; Bob and Mona Nathan, Randi and Herb Hall, Carrie and Rick South along with six grandchildren; Jeffrey and Alisha Sanzone, Rick and Amanda South, Wesley South, Emily and Eddy Coppens, and Ian South. She had six great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband William Nathan in 1977. Family will receive friends for a service on Wednesday July 18, 2018 at 12:30 P.M. in the Kelly L. Corridoni Funeral Home Ltd. 400 Indiana Ave. Avonmore, Pa. Interment will follow in B’Nai Isreal Cemetery in Penn Hills. To celebrate her love of life and ice cream, a monthly ice cream social will be hereby declared nana banana split day at oak hill nursing home where we will treat the residents to some sweets in Arlene’s honor.
