Rhoda Pearl Coleman Aikins, 89, of Avonmore, Pa. passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the Communities at Indian Haven in Indiana, Pa. She was born on Friday, February 10, 1928 in Coalport, Pa., the daughter of the late Edward C. and Rose Niper Coleman. She attended the Salina Bible Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crafting, crocheting and gardening. She also was a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts, a Sunday school teacher, youth fellowship leader and babysat for many children in the community. She is survived by 4 children, Laird E. Miller of Gyton, Georgia, La Rue D. Miller of Homer City, Pa., Phyllis J. Miller of Lajose, Pa and Keith E. Aikins and his wife Peggy of McIntyre, Pa., 2 sisters Patricia Poling of Altoona and Marjorie Couch of Virginia, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Lee Aikins Sr. in 2006, 2 sons, Russell L Aikins Jr. and Kevin E Aikins, 4 brothers, Cyril, Edward, Joseph and Ronald Coleman, 3 sisters, Deborah Kennen, Tirzah Brown, Savilla Justice and a granddaughter, Amy Miller-Wanner. A memorial service will be conducted at 11AM on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Salina Bible Church. Pastor Paul Reiner will officiate. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery in Avonmore, Pa. The family wishes to thank the staff at Indian Haven and the 365 Hospice Team for the wonderful care that they lovingly extended to their mother.
